Ep. 7 Setting Boundaries in Business When You Are the Business

Setting boundaries is not a set-it-and-forget-it process in your life OR business. Especially when you ARE the business.

This conversation around setting boundaries, asking for what you need, and understanding yourself on a deeper level as a person and business owner was inspired by a recent text message exchange Carin and Kacey had.

The setup…

Carin texted Kacey for input the night before a podcast recording, but through a Google calendar invite mishap, the recording wasn’t on Kacey’s schedule for the next morning.

Dun dun duuun.

So what ended up happening? Listen and find out, because we’re addressing that text exchange from both sides – including the chain reaction of thoughts and feelings that were set off in its midst.

Because setting boundaries isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s not lighting a candle and speaking in gentle tones. It’s challenging, it’s triggering (yep) and sometimes you feel like barfing when it’s necessary to put a boundary in place and honor it.

So what does all that look like IRL? How do you know you need to set a boundary? And what are some of the specific challenges you might face along the way? This episode will help you look at all of the above through the integrated, intentional PodMakers lens.

Whether you manage a chronic illness like Kacey, or you’re the primary parent for set days each week like Carin, or you’re somewhere in the middle, you’ll find common ground with us as we dig into the importance of boundaries – as well as inspiration and encouragement for creating boundaries that serve you well.
