Transcript:

I realized something was different. In January of 2023, I was tired, worn out, my margins were nonexistent. I was very easy to cry and feeling heavy and a bit too tender.

Finally, in May of 2023, I went on a retreat with some incredible healers and energy workers. I knew I had done it again… waited a bit too long and held on a bit too tightly to ask for help and support.

It was time.

Time to sink in to the idea that I may need to ask for space. The spaciousness and gentleness, the welcoming and cosmic wrapping of myself I received in that magical valley on that retreat—like nothing I’ve experienced before, but have tasted many many times.

But I needed more space than that.

The wondering and searching of the last six months is culminating in a shift that feels both massive and also kind of just like a whisper…

I’m taking a sabbatical from Spiritual Direction.

And sabbatical is a funny word. I feel the definition needs to be updated for those, like me, that use it maybe a little loosely.

I don’t know when I’m coming back.

As of August 15th, I won’t be running my group program, HEAL, or seeing folx in the 1/1 Group Spiritual Direction space.

I will, however, be using all of my 8 years as a Spiritual Director to continue my deep listening in the Podcast Production + Editing space.

We’re going all creation all the time over here.

And a big part of that creation is podcasts.

I truly love the power of this creative medium to connect people across time and space.

I love how my clients share their wisdom, story, and healing with the world—how this spurs healing for someone else.

I love what happens to me, myself, when I pop in my air pods and connect with my favorite hosts and stories as I chop vegetables for dinner; when I hear that intro music go off or the subtle gentleness or tears in my favorite host’s voice that day.

I LOVE sitting at, what I call, my Command Center cutting, dragging—listening over and over to get that breath perfect or that phrase right.

I love hitting the render button and letting those magical machines process away on that audio—trying to make it the best sound it possibly can (even if my client didn’t have the best capture day).

I love the inherent pause in the work… waiting for the render. I feel like I’m back in my undergrad studio waiting for the darkroom color processor to spit out the magic that I can’t wait to see that I just created.

I especially love that when we boil it all down… this primitive art is capturing the vibrations that your breath and voice make…

That’s dang beautiful.

I LOVE podcasts and podcasting.

I love hearing the stories of connection my clients experience—people sending them voice messages and DMs from all over the world feeling seen, heard, known—like it’s okay to be them and like maybe… they’re not what’s wrong with the world. ;)

In 2018, I gathered up all the confidence and possibility I could muster… got as safe as I possibly could with myself… and said, “Yes” to my first podcasting client. A client that I had the utter gift and privilege of working with for 5 years, hundreds of episodes, and to help her earn millions of dollars in her pockets.

Today, in 2023, I’m there again… gathering all the confidence and possibility I can muster (which is MUCH more now after alllllllllll this work), and going all-in on Podcast Editing + Production again.

I want to create for you.

I want to help you capture the vibrations that come from within you and send them out across the world.

I want to help you offer your particular wonderful to this wide expanse.

AND if you’re like, “Carin. This is great for you, but I’m not here for the pod stuff.” That’s great. Consider sticking around, though, because a massive part of this particular season of my own journey is committing big time to creating… in every way. I actually haven’t decided how much direct “pod stuff” is going to make it into this space besides as an example of creating and the creative process. I’m launching a new show with my friend Kacey Hayes, where we talk all things podcasting, podcast editing, and being a guest and getting guests, so I’m not sure any of that needs to live here, but I’ll keep you posted. Also… when we release that show, I’ll definitely let you know here so you can go follow along.

So let’s talk about what WILL be present in this space.

I’m obsessed with interviewing other creatives and folx that have ‘gone public’ with their wild offering to the world in general and through podcasting. So you can keep expecting those interviews.

I’m also working a lot on my own writing and my own views around creating and being a creative and the inner work that’s involved in showing up to create things to put out into the world every day… so you can ALWAYS expect content around that.

I hope to get really creative in this space and use it as a playground for wondering at what it means to be creative and what it means to go public with your creations.

So long story short… I will be your creative guide in this space. I will be your creative guide in what it looks like to make, to struggle to make, to edit what we make, and to put it out into the world and deal with all the inner and outer ick of all of it.

And my friends… with this focus, I only have *some* answers… I don’t know all the things. I’ve been living as, what Julia Cameron refers to in The Artist’s Way as a “shadow artist” for a number of years. This podcast is probably going to follow my journey out of the shadow artist and into the artist… in public.

As always, you all are near and dear to me and it means the world that you tune in week after week (let’s be real, month after month) to be a part of this journey with me. With this pivot in mind, if there’s anything you’d love to hear about… definitely let me know. You can shoot me an email through the contact form on my website at carinhuebner.com.

I’m so excited to see what this pivot has in store for us in this space and I’m so excited to see what we collaborate on here.

Please feel free to share any and all thoughts or questions for me through the contact form on the website. I’d love to hear from you as I make the transition from Spiritual Director to Creator, generally, and where you are on your own journey: are you transitioning too? Let me know.

Thank you, as always, for being here.

Get excited!

Be well, my friends.
